Vulnerabilities in IoT devices appear in the Final round of WhiteHat Grand Prix 2018

    The final round of WhiteHat Grand Prix 2018 will start on November 01, 2018 in Hanoi. This is the first time, the challenges of dealing with vulnerabilities in IoT devices will be in a cyber security contest.

    In the first part of contest, each team will be provided a real network of IoT devices such as: routers, Wi-Fi modems, surveillance cameras, central control systems... Each team must deal with the vulnerabilities that exist in IoT devices and score points after each challenge. This challenge requires members of each team to keep update the latest information about security vulnerabilities, as well as full-fledged capabilities related to vulnerability analysis, Reverse Engineering... Then, the teams will continue to participate in Attack/Defense. The duration of the final round lasts for eight hours from 9:30 am to 5:30 pm on the 1st November.

    10 teams in the Final Round of WhiteHat Grand Prix 2018 include: pwndevils, perfectblue (US), LC1BC (Russia), dcua (Ukraina), coconutCoffee, JustToPlay (Korea), p4team (Poland) and 3 teams from Vietnam as: ACEBEAR, Injocker10K, r3s0L.

    Mr. Nguyen Huu Cuong, Head of the Organizer said: "Security in IoT devices is playing an increasingly important role in protecting the network. So, the teams will gain the most practical experience when taking part in the challenges if the final round of WhiteHat Grand Prix 2018. It’s also one of the rare contests in the world that use IoT devices".

    WhiteHat Grand Prix 2018 is organized by Authority of Information Security and Prizes of WhiteHat Grand Prix 2018 consist of Grand Prize: 10,000 USD and Champion Cup; 2nd Prize: 2,000 USD; 3rd Prize: 1,000 USD.

    In order to create the best conditions for the teams to compete in the Final Round of Whitehat Grand Prix 2018, the organizer will support all accommodation and travel expenses for the teams in Hanoi. On the 2nd November, international teams will participate in the tour to discover the country and people of Vietnam.
